Practical gifts are often much more welcomed than receiving a present that is for decorative purposes only. A financial gift is always most welcome, although seen as quite impersonal to many recipients.
A more thoughtful gift would be to treat a loved one, relative or friend to a holiday or excursion. This can of course vary in price, according to the type of holiday and destination required.
For example in Australia, where distances between the major cities are quite considerable, there are a number of flights to Melbourne available from a number of operators, including Qantas, Jetstar and Virgin Blue.
This would make an ideal gift for far- flung relatives, who would not normally be able to find the available funds to pay for a flight on a regular basis. It would also enable them to spend time with the purchaser and their family, which is often priceless.
There are of course a number of cheap flights available, connecting other major worldwide cities, which would prove to be the ideal gift when reuniting families who would otherwise not see them for some time.
Surely this would be a much more acceptable and memorable gift than an item of jewellery or a gift voucher.
